Collabro Awarded a Contract to Improve Safety fo Nigeria's Offshore Industry

Sunday, Jan 15, 2012

Collabro has partnered with oil and gas service company West Atlantic Energy Nigeria Limited to supply software and support services to the Nigerian government, as part of a safety initiative for the country’s offshore workers.

The multi-million pound contract will initially run for five years and will see Collabro provide Vantage POB software and associated support services. Vantage POB is a Personnel On Board and personnel logistics system that was initially developed for the oil and gas industry in the North Sea to efficiently monitor and control the movements of personnel to and from offshore facilities.

Through its technical partnership with West Atlantic Energy Nigeria – which was selected by the Nigerian government’s Department of Petroleum Resources - Collabro will supply Vantage POB to the Nigerian government to be used as part of its Offshore Safety Permit scheme, which was introduced in August last year to ensure protection for oil and gas workers in the country.

Kevin Walker, the Vantage POB Product Manager at Collabro, said:
"For years, Vantage POB has provided a stable and scalable platform for personnel logistics in the North Sea. The excellence of functionality - designed by logistics professionals – combined with the high quality service delivered by the Collabro team has led to complete coverage for all UK and Dutch offshore oil and gas operators. We have delivered the software as far afield as Trinidad, Indonesia and Australia.

“Collabro is proud to provide the software as a country-wide service that will ensure that best practice developed by the UK offshore oil and gas industry will benefit workers and operators active in other regions. Nigeria is the first country that will realise the benefits of implementing a shared service mandated by regulation.”

At the launch of the Offshore Safety Permit in Abuja, Andrew Obaje, Director of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) of the Nigerian government stated:

"In addition to certification tracking, the system, among others, will provide the government with the necessary tools to monitor personnel competence and ensure speedy achievement of the Nigerian Content Act. The Nigerian Offshore Safety Permit is deployed as a stand-alone solution for personnel accountability in the Nigerian oil and gas industry and is hosted in the National Data Repository within the DPR."

Collabro Limited offers Vantage POB under an exclusive worldwide distributor agreement with the owner of the software – Logica (UK) Limited.
